Who We Are
The Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) is the premier professional organization accelerating the success of Iowa's technology industry and tech-based economy. Our members include organizations of every size in virtually every aspect of technology creation, production, application and education in Iowa. Iowa's tech sector fuels broad-based economic growth and is the foundation for the state's 21st Century economy. We are Iowa’s statewide voice for technology.
Today, Iowa's technology industry employs over 76,000 workers and accounts for $10,696 billion (8.8%) of the state’s value added, or GDP. And the numbers are steadily growing. In addition, major industry sectors such as finance, insurance and manufacturing rely on information technology to compete in today’s global economy. Nearly 55,000 high-tech workers in all firms support Iowa’s economy – across technology and non-technology industries.
Established in 1997 as the Software Council of Iowa, the original organization formed through the joint efforts of industry leaders, the Iowa Department of Economic Development and the Governor of Iowa.
Today, as the Technology Association of Iowa, the organization strives to strengthen Iowa's technology ecosystem and enhance the state's reputation as a technically advanced place where world-class technology firms and organizations thrive.
What We Do
Iowa's future economic vitality depends on the success of the state's technology sector.
TAI focuses on addressing the needs and challenges of technology organizations and giving them the tools they need to succeed.
Through efforts to collaborate, educate and connect, TAI works to:
- create the best public policy in the nation,
- enhance access to workforce and develop Iowa's future talent pool,
- connect businesses to resources,
- encourage collaborations, and
- promote Iowa’s tech sector and its member firms and organizations.
We work with business, education and political leaders statewide to make Iowa a vibrant, attractive and rewarding place for technology companies to do business, and for high-tech professionals to live and work.
