About this session

Join us for an engaging panel discussion on the impact of data analytics in healthcare. Our expert speakers will explore how data is transforming various sectors of the healthcare industry. They will focus on specific areas of data governance and reporting, including revenue cycle management, best practices for patient records, and statewide healthcare reporting.

In this ignite talks format, each speaker will have ten minutes to discuss key aspects of data in healthcare. The session will be followed by a question-and-answer discussion, providing attendees with the opportunity to further explore the topics covered.

Ben Cleveland
Principal Data Scientist
UnityPoint Health

Ben Cleveland introduced and led the implementation of AI at UnityPoint Health beginning in 2014. He and his team design and operationalize data products that use advanced data modeling techniques for the purposes of clinical excellence, strategic planning, and improvement within a large health system. Ben is a nationally recognized data science leader with over 20 publications and speaking invitations at AI and data science events across the country.  He and his teams have received several awards for healthcare AI innovation, including first place (2018) and runner-up (2022) in the Innovation Awards by Healthcare Innovation and, most recently, the “Technology Most Needed in Your Health System” at the 2022 Healthcare Analytics Summit AI Expo.

Betsy DanForth Richey
Senior Director of Data & Technology
Iowa Primary Care Association

Betsy Danforth Richey is the Senior Director of Data and Technology at the Iowa Primary Care Association. She received her Master’s in Public Health and her PhD in Applied Medical Anthropology from the University of South Florida. She has worked broadly in government, non-profit and private sectors, focusing on data-driven health equity initiatives, systems change, and policy advocacy. In her role as the Senior Director of Data and Technology, she oversees reporting, technology, and network-wide EHR support. She led the implementation of a shared electronic health record among 11 community health centers in Iowa. This shared system, in concert with advanced analytics, allows community health centers in Iowa to understand and serve their patients holistically and to work to create equitable outcomes in communities. Other career highlights include developing government/academic partnerships to develop the Iowa Integrated Data System for Decision-Making, overseeing the Iowa Public Health Tracking Portal, and developing predictive risk modeling to identify health disparities. She is currently on the CyncHealth board of directors. 

 
Chris Klitgaard
Chief Executive Officer

Chris oversees the strategic, financial, technical, sales, marketing, and operational elements of the newly formed revenue cycle management technology and services company, revology, Inc.

For 15 years prior to forming revology, Chris was the founder and CEO of MediRevv, which is a healthcare A/R management and coding firm company that delivered the highest level of customer service to hospitals, physicians, and patients while maximizing and accelerating cash collections.

During life before his entrepreneurial journey, Chris led patient access, patient accounting and health information management functions for both the hospital and physician group of a major academic medical center, the University of Iowa Health Care. During this time, his knowledge of and passion for revenue cycle management in healthcare grew alongside his determination to approach it differently to drive better results.

Chris stays fit by hiking, biking, and skiing and has a passion for travel – both domestic and international. Chris’s playlist is forever changing, and his four children light up his life.
