TAI Announces Iowa High School Technology Summit

We are pleased to announce the first ever Iowa High School Technology Summit presented by Principal Financial Group, which will take place on September 30, 2019, at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center.

The Iowa High School Technology Summit exposes high school students to technology companies and careers across Iowa. Three IT professionals will give fun and engaging presentations designed to challenge stereotypes, demystify the industry, and inspire the next generation of Iowa’s high-tech workforce.

The conference will also be live streamed and open to any Iowa student for the purpose of exposing them to technology professionals and careers in Iowa.

“We want to introduce students to the great job opportunities in Iowa technology,” said Brian Waller, President of TAI. “Whether it’s building an app for a large transportation company or being on the ground floor of a startup creating the next big thing in software, there are incredible jobs in technology across the state.”

In Iowa, the average salary for technology professionals is $80,100. This is 76% higher than Iowa’s average salary of $45,610, according to CompTIA. Not all technology jobs require a four-year degree.

“Principal Foundation is excited to partner with TAI on including high school students in the Iowa High School Technology Summit,” said Gary Scholten, EVP, Chief Information Officer & Chief Digital Officer at Principal. “It’s important that students are aware of the amazing technology successes that are happening in Iowa and the opportunities that exist for future employees who are tech-savvy.”
