Joe Riesberg Appointed as 2023 Board Chair of the TAI Board of Directors

DES MOINES, Iowa (February 14, 2023) – The Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) recently announced that Joe Riesberg, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at EMC Insurance Companies, has been appointed the 2023 board chair of the TAI Board of Directors.
“As the Technology Association of Iowa begins its 26th year, the organization has evolved into an impactful association made up of influential technical leaders,” said Joe. “I am proud to serve as chair this year and to continue building on the foundation that positions Iowa as the number one state in the Midwest for technology, innovation, leadership, and talent.”
TAI’s board of directors is comprised of technology leaders from a diverse array of markets and industries. The board meets quarterly and serves a critical role in supporting Iowa’s technology industry.
“Joe is a remarkable leader and innovator,” said TAI President Brian Waller. “I am excited to work with him and the rest of the board throughout this year to continue to strengthen Iowa’s technology and innovation ecosystem.”

About Joe Riesberg
Joe Riesberg is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for EMC Insurance Companies, where he leads the company’s delivery of operational results through technology solutions. He joined EMC in 2019 as Vice President of Technology, overseeing the Infrastructure and Operations and Business Applications Management teams.
Before joining EMC, Joe served as Vice President of Global Technology Operations, DHI Group Inc.; Chief Information Officer, Drake University; and Senior Vice President – Global IT Security Services, Aviva. Joe earned his bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) from Iowa State University. He also completed the University of Oxford, Said Business School (Oxford, UK) Strategist Executive Leadership Program.
An Iowa native, Joe is committed to building and maintaining a strong and vibrant community. He has volunteered with Willkie House and Iowa Homeless Youth Center projects as well as being an active participant in the Assumption Parish in Granger and the Dowling Catholic School System. He also has served as a youth football coach for 10 years. Joe is a Technology Association of Iowa Board of Directors member and serves as the 2023 Board chair. He was named TAI’s 2022 CIO of the Year. Joe also currently serves as a member of the Guidewire Strategic Advisory Committee. In addition, he has been a member of the IBM Security Board of Advisors and Deloitte European Union Cyber Threat Intelligence Trust Group.
