Senior Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Developer

As part of VGM’s Corporate IT team, a Senior Robotic Process Automation Developer will be responsible for the design and development of RPA process initiatives and automated solutions. As a leader to junior developers, the Senior RPA developer will mentor team members while also implementing and managing automated processes to maximize business efficiencies using RPA technologies and tools.

Experience with Automation Anywhere and leading a team are crucial to success in this role. We are seeking an individual who is driven to maximize automation technologies while also developing team members grow and strengthen the RPA team’s capabilities.

Working Location: Waterloo, IA, (Open to hybrid or remote within the US)

Senior Robotic Process Automation Developer Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical design, development, testing and maintenance of automation solutions
  • Design and develop end-to-end process automations by understanding current business processes and recommending to-be process designs to users
  • Conduct technical feasibility analysis and provide guidance on the complexity, effort, and duration to automate a process during the intake process
  • Manage deployment of RPA components: bots, robots, development tools
  • Mentor and train junior developers, providing guidance in all aspects of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Deploy code from development to test to production environments
  • Organize work based on requirements to create PBIs for all activities needed to complete development in an agile methodology
  • Lead and manage sprints and prioritize work items to ensure timely delivery
  • Lead scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-up, planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospective
  • Gather requirements and create Process Definition Documents (PDDs) as needed
  • Identify, report, monitor and mitigate technical risks by understanding the root cause of failures and successfully implementing solutions to resolve all underlying issues independently
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure, and production system errors
  • Complete code and documentation reviews for peers and junior developers for accuracy and to ensure adherence with established VGM RPA standards
  • Ability to attain Automation Anywhere Certified Advanced and Master RPA Professional certifications
  • Senior Robotic Process Automation Developer Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of robotic process automation (RPA) experience
  • 3+ years of Automation Anywhere experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with one or many coding languages such as C#, Python, ASP.Net, PL/SQL

Skills and Competencies:

  • Understanding of Automation Anywhere, UiPath, or other RPA tools and technology
  • Leadership experience, prior team management preferred
  • Broad technical and IT knowledge including programming languages, databases, and operating systems
  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of Mail Automation, multi-bot architecture, and queue management will set you apart

Physical Requirements:

  • Operation of office equipment and using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment
  • Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision
  • Moving throughout the VGM facilities when needed
