Chief Information Officer

The University of Northern Iowa seeks qualified candidates for the position of Chief Information Officer. Responsible for the strategic direction, management, and execution of all information technology (IT) resources and initiatives; serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet; leads the IT department in supporting the institution’s mission of education, research, and community service by ensuring the effective use of technology across all academic and administrative functions; provides leadership to the IT units of the department, which include Administrative Information Systems, Client Services, Educational Technology and Media Services, Information Security, and Network & Infrastructure Services; responsible for the overall technology strategy, ensuring the alignment of IT initiatives with the university’s mission and goals; collaborates with university leadership, faculty, and staff to identify and address technology needs and opportunities; develops and implements policies and procedures related to IT; leads, mentors, and manages the IT department, including budgeting, staffing, and performance evaluation; oversees IT projects from inception through completion, ensuring timely and successful delivery; and ensures the security, reliability, and compliance of IT systems, data, and infrastructure.
