Iowa Waste Reduction Center

 

The Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC) was established in 1987 under the Ground Water Protection Act and has grown to be a nationally recognized organization devoted to environmental consulting, assistance, training and education. Staff members serve as leaders in state, regional, and national organizations while working in the Cedar Valley.

The STAR4D Painter Training Program was established in 2003 and has become one of the premier training programs for military and industrial painter training in the US through the development and implementation of cutting-edge training technologies, including virtual reality.

The Food, Beverage and Organics programs at the IWRC have garnered statewide and national recognition for their innovative approaches to tackling the problem of organic waste. Clients include schools, institutions and municipalities among others. The IWRC is also home to the award-winning Iowa Green Brewery Certification, helping Iowa’s craft breweries operate more efficiently and minimizing their environmental impact.

Responsibilities: Works with program managers in the STAR4D Painter Training programs as well as the Food, Beverage & Organics programs at the Iowa Waste Reduction Center; facilitates training events; conducts on-site, hands-on training and virtual reality-based training classes; gathers performance metrics; develops and reviews training materials and curriculum; and assists with research and reporting.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field plus at least one year of experience in environmental consulting or related experience required. Travel for both programs will be necessary, including out-of-state travel to military bases and manufacturing facilities, and small municipalities across the Midwest as well as within Iowa.
