Summer 2025 – Data Analytics Intern

Job Description

Ruan is now hiring a Data Analytics Intern for Summer 2025. 

This is a full-time position that will work a mix of on-site at our downtown Des Moines campus and remote.

The Data Analytics Intern will assist in gathering data from various sources and ensure its accuracy and completeness utilizing statistical methods and tools to analyze data and generate actionable insights.  Will work closely with cross-functional teams to support data-informed decision-making processes.

The purpose of the internship position is to develop college students that are pursuing a career in supply chain, transportation, accounting, human resources, IT, or applicable division. Interns may be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the transportation business. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly.
Carrying out the Company’s organizational values and operating in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies are required functions. Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Duties may include assisting in the preparation of reports and presentation material 25%
    • Provide day-to-day business activities focused on meeting internal and external customer needs 25%
    • Fully support financial business case analysis 25%
    • Participate in major cost and process improvement initiatives and projects, and provide technical support in managing the business unit’s financial performance. 20%
    • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required. 5%”
Requirements
  • Education: Some College Courses Preferred
    Course(s) of Study: Supply Chain, Logistics, Human Resources, IT

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree: Pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Tools and Systems: Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI), and familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL).
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.
