Computer Operator (31291)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure overall correct operation procedures by operating, observing, and monitoring computers, database applications, and peripheral equipment for faulty output and errors
  • Adjust, manipulate, and respond to console requests, commands, workflow procedures, and job runs
  • Analyze and determine the source of system errors, malfunctions, job stoppages, and program information
  • Work with technical staff to document and report system problems and resolve production issues
  • Operate and maintain peripheral equipment
  • Review and evaluate production printouts, reports, and files
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues for end-users
  • Perform system backups
  • Assist in the development and drafting of operating instruction documents and data analysis methodologies
  • Execute and monitor production schedules for processing
  • Verify external inputs prior to job execution
  • Assist in the resolution of all production job failures and job execution delays
  • Create work orders
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff members

Requirements:

  • 1+ year of related experience
  • Experience in the operation of computer hardware, software, and standards
  • Data analysis, processing methodologies, and database applications experience
  • Experience working with data input and output procedures, job control processes, and system backup protocols
  • Past experience working in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent organization, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and customer service skills
  • Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment while operating multiple jobs simultaneously
