Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the specification, design and development of mechanical components, subsystems and external accessories for our tablet computers/rugged cases. Your creativity and imagination will be put to good use as you discover and overcome the challenges that arise when pioneering new technologies and applying known technologies.
We are seeking candidates with product development engineering experience, an openness to learn and an eagerness to collaborate across multiple disciplines. The chosen candidate will have incredible attention to detail and a high degree of flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Guide product design and development from concept to manufacturing
- Plan development strategy and budget requirement and manage product execution
- Perform full lifecycle product development
- Coordinate technical work with internal teams and external resources
- Evaluate final products, overall performance and reliability
- Design and support complex tablet and case projects
- Alter and modify deigns to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions
- Develop and apply technical and quality improvements
- Must work independently and in a team environment and is willing to change priorities when needed
- Must work with a high level of accuracy
- Be proficient creating and managing multi-level engineering Bill of Material (BOM)
- Familiar with using MRP system to check stock status, verify production BOM’s etc.
- Be responsible for prototyping designs
- Be involved and manage product certifications
- Research and implement electro-mechanical designs
Required Skills and Experiences
- Mechanical Engineering Degree
- Minimum 2-3 years product design experience in handheld/portable industrial or consumer electronic product industries
- Solicit feedback from tooling and manufacturing engineers
- Ensure that new product meets all customer requirements
- Assist with leading design reviews
- Proven working experience in mechanical engineering
- Experience working with Asian vendors-preferred
- Experience in designing and specifying injection molded plastics, die cast parts and precision sheet metal is required
- Knowledge and experience with 3D modeling and 2D drawing CAD software
- Clear technical communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to manage a development program
