Editorial Technology Engineer

The Editorial Technology Engineer will be responsible for working with a combination of Process Owners representing the Print Editorial Brands to support and enhance their technology stack. This position must be closely aligned with E&P Business Solutions in order maintain technical alignment with business objectives across Content Center, Production Operations and Editorial Operations. The software vendors with the largest footprint in this space are WoodWing and Adobe. An acceptable candidate must have working knowledge of all software platforms mentioned. This position requires excellent communication skills, ability to solve complex problems and demonstrable experience in both system analysis and development. This Editorial Technology Engineer will be expected to enforce and follow internal standards related to coding, testing, security and documentation.

Provide technical subject matter expertise for the technology stack used by the Print Editorial Brands

Develop cost-effective technology solutions used primarily but not exclusively by the Meredith Print Editorial Brands
Lead the technical evaluation of new Information Technology products or services
Provide guidance to Developers as business requirements are translated into technical specifications
Learns user functions, organization and role in the enterprise

Work with Business Solution to create actionable technical specification that can be executed by E&P Development Team

Provide detailed technical design documentation for projects, suitable for independent use by other Engineers and Developers
Assist in gaining buy-in for new concepts being presented to both Editorial and third-party users

Provide secondary user support (T2)

Assist in defining principles, standards and processes that comprise the Enterprise Architecture model.
Monitoring Corporate objectives to understand the business drivers.
Represent E&P Tech Team when technical system issues arise that require coordination with other IT areas of expertise; Netops, Enterprise Architecture
Support third party vendors that are used to supplement Meredith Editorial staff
Analyzes and evaluates existing and proposed application architecture and system components utilizing approved processes and systems.

Foster Technical Best Practices and Change Management

Promote and encourage best practices related to Software Development
Ensure technical reviews (configuration/code) are completed as a requirement of promoting changes to production so that quality standards are maintained
Encourage standard production releases coordinated with Sprint cadence
Enforce protocol for break fix configuration/code promotion that occur outside of normal production releases

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Computer Information Systems required, or equivalent education and experience.

 

Experience:

Minimum 6 yrs experience in IT or related field.

 

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Understanding for the following Software Platforms and Tools:

Dalim Tools
WoodWing Editorial and DAM Systems
Adobe Creative Cloud
Adobe InDesign Server
Experience working with: AWS Lambda, Javascript, ElasticSearch, SQL, is a plus.
