POSITION SUMMARY | Cybersecurity Operations Manager

The Cybersecurity Operations Manager is responsible for the success of the security and privacy operations activities within the Security Office.  The Cybersecurity Operations Manager executes a wide range of duties in ensuring best practices related to security and data privacy are being followed at Kingland.  The Cybersecurity Operations Manager is responsible for working with the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to ensure Kingland’s internal policies and standards remain in alignment with the appropriate external industry standards and practices.

 

The Cybersecurity Operations Manager and the CSO will work together on the precise work decomposition between the roles, which is dependent on the relative resource allocations, size of security operations team, organizational security priorities, and skills of the respective individuals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES | Cybersecurity Operations Manager

  • Advise on updates to security policies, standards, process, and procedures related to Security and Privacy Operations.
  • Function as the personnel manager for the security operations team.
  • Lead the security operations center, reviewing all security events (e.g. Guard Duty, AWS, Sumologic) and alerts.
  • Monitor and update threat intelligence streams (e.g. FS-ISAC, CERT, Data Guidance).
  • Maintain elevated access to and manages Kingland’s SIEM, Threat Analysis Platform, EDR solutions, and the on call system.
  • Execute upon the responsibilities described in the Security Incident Response when an incident is declared.
  • Conduct incident response testing exercises annually and work with the third party vendor to provide a summary report to the CSO upon completion.
  • Perform access reviews each month, including physical access to facilities (visitor and Kingland personnel), privileged access to information systems, and other identified selections of access logs.
  • Operate the security help desk, ensuring responsiveness to the company by responding within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Manage the Phishing Awareness training and prevention program. Ensure metrics are documented and recommend program improvements.
  • Participate in vendor selections and DARS within activities related to security and privacy operations.
  • Assist in internal and third party audits as required by the Security & Privacy Compliance team
  • Manage the security training program by leading the selection and creation of training materials for security centric owned training activities such as the Security & Privacy Awareness Training and Role Based Training.
  • Analyze and recommend medium range planning of staffing needs of the Security & Privacy Operations Team

POSITION REQUIREMENTS | Cybersecurity Operations Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 5 years of proven experience in a similar role
  • Proficient in general understanding of security vulnerabilities
  • Proficient in general understanding of audit practices
  • Ability to capture context in meeting notes and ensure follow-up actions are well documented
  • Disciplined in articulating and managing commitments of the internal security supply chain
  • 5+ years of experience with SIEM solutions such as QRadar, Splunk, SumoLogic Cloud SIEM, Kibana, Security Onion, ArcSight or similar.
  • Experience managing SME and high performing individual contributor roles.
  • Experience with Atlassian Products (Confluence & Jira).
  • Experience managing a Threat Intelligence program.
  • Ability to travel to Kingland office locations, as well as additional travel as required by business and client needs

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS | Cybersecurity Operations Manager

  • Bachelors in information systems or cybersecurity
  • Master in Business Administration, Management of Information Systems, or Cyber Security
  • Technical and audit level certifications such as: ISO 27001 Internal Audit, CISA, Sec+, CySA+, CEH, GISP, SSCP, GSEC, CTPRP, or CTPRA
  • Advanced and managerial level certifications such as: CISSP, CISM, CSX-P, CAP, CASP, GSLC, or CCISO

SALARY RANGE

  • $115,000 – $145,000 Annually

 

LOCATION

  • Kingland offers modern office locations in our Ames, Iowa; Clear Lake, Iowa; or Fort Myers, Florida
