The Iowa Communications Network (ICN) is seeking a motivated professional to join the ICN Communications Team. This individual will assist in developing internal and external communications, and assist in maintaining ICN’s web presence and social media applications.

This individual will perform daily content updates to the ICN websites. Must have significant experience with content management system software (will use HTML and Drupal) to input and code pre-written content on website. Must have significant experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat) to manipulate, input and code pre-selected assets on website. Must have working knowledge of ADA standards for websites, video, audio, text, image and PDF documents. Must have experience maintaining ADA accessibility guides and standards to ensure website standards are met.

General duties include:
Website/Social Media Presence

Updates ICN’s public-facing website and mobile applications using content management software (HTML and Drupal).
Updates ICN’s internal websites – Google Site (Intranet), Business Services Google Site, and ServiceNow portal.
Assists in implementing agency social media plans to promote agency programs on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, YouTube, and/or other social media platforms.
Creates videos and service/support webinars using software and digital technologies to share with users, employees, state agencies, customers, and the general public.

Communications & Marketing

Prepares for publication informational materials including news releases, and annual and special reports.
Develops public information for articles, publications, newsletters and brochures used to inform and educate various audiences about the ICN.
Develops promotional material to be used in customer meetings that describe and explain available ICN products and services.
Supports legislative communications and providing general information to the public.
The ideal candidate will have:

Strong writing and communication skills.
An ability to work collaboratively with internal staff as well as independently to ensure deadlines are met.
Experience with content management software  (HTML and Drupal).
Experience with social media platforms and scheduling platforms (i.e.Hootsuite).
Knowledge of various methods used in the production of written and graphic material such layout, desktop publishing, photography, video production, website design, computer presentation including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Adobe Suite software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in journalism, public relations, graphic design, or communications.
2) Four years of full-time work experience in planning and developing content for dissemination through traditional media (newspapers, publications, radio, and television), websites, social media, and/or public speaking.
3) A total of four years of education (as described in number one) and/or full-time experience (as described in number two), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work equals one year of full-time.
