Risk Data Scientist

Primary Purpose & Function

Responsible for utilizing company data to produce data-driven insights for key stakeholders and processing, designing, and presenting data to assist with making business decisions.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

· Process confidential data and information according to project requirements.

· Design models and algorithms to process both public and proprietary datasets.

· Implement numerical solutions and create statistical and mathematical models using Python and SQL

· Assist with various statistical analysis, modeling projects, and data flows.

· Create data visualizations for use in both internal and external capacities.

· Monitor and improve model performance by integrating new data and refining methodologies.

· Aid in hypothesis formulation, data collection, modeling, and interpretation of complex datasets to enable data-driven decisions.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

· 1-3 years of experience in data science with a statistical background with proven applicable methods.

· Masters or PHD in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, or similar field.

· Familiarity with one or more of the following: crop yield datasets, insurance, agriculture business

· Background with analyzing data and providing initial statistical analyses.

· Expert with a scientific programming language (e.g. R, Python) and SQL.

· Excellent communications skills to both technical and non-technical audiences; high-level written and verbal communication skills

· Experience with machine learning and statistical concepts, packages and libraries

· Strong problem-solving, analytic and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work with clean and messy data and see patterns in data.
