Iowan Project Meetup Helps Iowan Land Job
Nicole Cook has always been a proud Iowan, even when she lived in New York and San Francisco. But after leaving the state she began to miss the sense of community that was easy in Iowa, but more of a challenge for her to find on the coasts.
“I started to have a different appreciation for the state once I left than what I had when I grew up here,” she said.
After making great connections at the 2018 Iowan Project Meetup in Chicago, Nicole landed her current job as the Managing Director at the Global Insurance Accelerator. She helps connect startups with the global insurance industry as well as attract and retain investors that work with startup companies.
“This job is an amazing opportunity to leverage all the things I love about Iowa with a unique business opportunity. I feel very fortunate,” she said.
Nicole believes that people thinking about moving back to Iowa will be amazed at how much the city has grown and changed for the better over the past 5-10 years. And that growth includes great job opportunities.
“Reach back into the community and you’ll start to see more of the exciting things going on,” she said. And that just might mean a new job opportunity as well.
