Meg Anderson serves as the VP-Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Principal Financial Group®, where she leads the vision and execution of the Information Security & Risk team. In her role, Meg is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that safeguards the company’s critical assets, strengthens its security posture, and ensures the protection of customer data amidst a dynamic cybersecurity landscape.
With over 16 years of cybersecurity leadership in the financial services sector, Meg plays a pivotal role in aligning security initiatives with business objectives, enabling the company to navigate evolving cyber threats while supporting innovation and growth. She engages with global stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership and the board of directors, to effectively communicate complex security concepts and drive strategic decisions.
Meg’s expertise extends to cyber defense operations, identity and access management, data protection, governance, cyber risk, and cybersecurity compliance. She contributes to technology governance, ethical and responsible AI, and various enterprise risk committees. Meg’s past board experience includes six years on the board of the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) where she chaired the risk, strategy and nominating and governance committees during her tenure, and served on the Unity Point Health Information Security Committee as an external subject matter expert to support their Board.
Active in the cybersecurity community, Meg is involved in multiple CISO councils and serves as an advisor for several cybersecurity venture capital firms. She is passionate about mentoring and developing future security professionals, participating in programs with Cyversity and the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and co-sponsoring the Women in Technology group at Principal®.
Before her current role, Meg amassed over 20 years of experience in application development and technology leadership within the insurance industry. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from the University of Iowa and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI).
McAllen Badeaux joined Wellmark in 2023 and serves as vice president and chief information security officer. In this role, McAllen is responsible for the strategic design and operation of Wellmark’s cybersecurity control ecosystem along with the oversight and execution of the many control processes that protect Wellmark’s technology systems and member data.
Prior to joining Wellmark, McAllen built and operated information security programs for many years at several Central Iowa companies in the financial services, insurance, and digital media sectors. McAllen holds bachelors and masters degrees from Simpson College and Boston University, respectively, along with a variety of cyber-security and insurance industry professional designations. He is a military police veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Megan serves as the Information Security Officer at John Deere Financial and the Director of Enterprise Cybersecurity Risk Management for Deere & Company. In these roles, she oversees all cybersecurity activities for John Deere Financials’ global operations and manages various Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) functions, such as third-party risk, regulatory compliance, policies, and standards. Megan is an Iowa State alumnus with a double major in Accounting and Management Information Systems.
She has spent a significant portion of her career in cybersecurity, risk, and compliance roles, primarily within the financial services industry. Megan’s experience includes tenure at Ernst & Young and Nationwide Insurance before joining the agriculture, manufacturing, and technology giant, John Deere.
Apart from her professional duties, Megan actively supports recruiting initiatives, participates in Cyber Defense Competitions, serves as an external advisory council member for the Cybersecurity Engineering department at Iowa State, and holds CISSP, CFE, and TAI CISO cohort memberships. In her free time, she enjoys staying active with her husband Brady, discovering new coffee shops and eateries in the Des Moines metro area, and spending quality time with her nieces and nephews.
Andy is a strategic leader with more than 25 years of expertise in cybersecurity. He has a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and holds CISSP, C|CISO, CRISC and CCE certifications. Andy’s area of expertise is guiding organizations through secure transitions to cloud computing within heavily regulated environments. He is dedicated to implementing top-tier security protocols, ensuring compliance with governance and regulations and devising IT security risk management strategies to deliver secure solutions for business stakeholders.
