Join us for the Q3 TAI Legal Roundtable! This quarter’s meeting will focus on two new rules set forth by the FTC, each of which have been impactful to startups and tech businesses. The first, re-assessing the way we determine if a worker is a contractor (1099) or employee (w2) changed and is effective as of March. The second, ruling that non-competes are no longer effective, which can possibly take effect as early as this fall (but may get pushed out).
Leading this discussion will be Matthew Nuzum, Surge Business Law. Matthew is a second-career attorney with a background as a software engineer. After graduating law school, he worked in-house as a copyright attorney for Google’s open source software team advising on copyright, contract, and M&A projects. More recently, he has launched a solo firm in Johnston, Iowa where he pursues his passion of helping emerging businesses. Matthew also heads the Iowa Bar Association’s Small and Solo Firm Section with the goal of creating a supportive environment for attorneys across Iowa.
