Mark VanderWiele is an IBM Distinguished Engineer. He has been Chief Architect for IBM’s research on cloud computing. In this role he has had strategy and architecture responsibility for IBM’s cloud technology and the Research Compute Cloud, which uses the latest cloud technology to serve over 3000 researchers across IBM. He is currently Chief Architect for IBM’s Power Integrated Systems for Cloud. Mark has 25 years industry experience in systems architecture. Over the past several years he has been performing deep research on internet scale data centers, genesis of clouds, virtualization management, new cloud workloads, license management, problem determination, and scalable storage to build more efficient data centers in the cloud.
