Nick Lenssen is a Senior Specialist, Market Intelligence for Vestas Americas A/S, where he is responsible for tracking and forecasting the market for wind power in North America. As such, he focuses on the strategic and market issues that impact wind power including the evolution of energy markets, the transmission system, customer preferences, and government and regulatory policy issues.
Prior to joining Vestas in 2008, Nick served as a practice director, distributed and renewable energy at Energy Insights and at Primen / EPRI Solutions. From 1995 to 2000, Nick was a senior director at E Source, where he launched and directed the company's Distributed Energy and Green Energy information services, as well as contributed to the company's strategic issues research. From 1988 to 1995, he served as senior researcher and associate project director at the non-governmental research organization, Worldwatch Institute. He served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Ecuador from 1984-1987.
Nick is a nationally and internationally recognized expert on strategic, technology, and market issues related to renewable and distributed energy. He has published several notable papers on evolving energy markets and is coauthor of Power Surge: Guide to the Coming Energy Revolution (1994), which envisions a future energy economy that operates primarily on modular renewable and distributed energy technologies. Nick received an A.B. in Geography with high distinction from Dartmouth College.
