Can’t Visit in Person? Go Virtual!
We’d love to see you at the show. But if you can’t attend in person, TAI Virtual GreenUp gives you two easy, fully-interactive ways to access our program, attend GreenUp keynotes and track sessions, and network with speakers, sponsors and peers from around the world. Attending virtually also lets you experience, at first hand, key immersive and social internet technologies that offer huge benefits for business: connecting people and powerful ideas while saving time, lowering costs, and cutting carbon emissions and waste.
Registered virtual attendees can log in immediately to our main show site, and view all the program-related information, speaker bios, downloads and other materials available there. Starting April 17, you’ll also be able to access either of two virtual show environments:
- A simple, web- and Flash-based experience, letting you view keynotes and individual track sessions via live video, and interact with peers and presenters in realtime text-chat. The web interface runs on any standard browser, on any computer with adequate internet bandwidth for streaming (enterprise broadband, domestic cable/DSL, 3G, wired or wireless).
- A fully-immersive, voice-enabled 3D experience in our Second Life™ conference center. Here, you’ll be able to explore rich, immersive exhibits on green technology and strategy, participate in pre-show events, and enjoy networking raised to the next level. During the show, you’ll watch keynotes and track sessions via video, and interact via realtime text-chat. Access to TAI’s Second Life conference center requires creating an ‘avatar’ (a 3D representation of yourself), installation of Second Life client software (about a two-minute process), and a USB headset for voice communication. For best experience, a PC or laptop of fairly recent manufacture (Windows, Mac or Linux) is required, as well as ample internet bandwidth (enterprise network, domestic cable or DSL, wired connection).
Virtual Orientations
Virtual registrants will receive email reminders about the opening of our virtual experience, scheduled for mid-April, well in advance of showtime. Two attendee orientation sessions (April 17 and 28) will be conducted by experienced Heartland staff and virtual world specialists, to insure that attendees unfamiliar with Second Life can access the 3D environment comfortably, and with confidence.

Virtual TAI GreenUp attendees can choose between a simple web interface with video and chat, and a fully-immersive, video and voice-enabled conference environment in Second Life™.
