The Technology Association of Iowa and LWBJ Financial Announce
2010 Prometheus Award Finalists
The Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) and LWBJ Financial today announced the finalists for the fifth annual Prometheus Awards. These Academy Awards of the technology industry celebrate extraordinary achievements among high-tech businesses and individuals.
“The Prometheus Awards give us the opportunity to honor high-tech professionals who made great breakthroughs in 2009,” said TAI president Leann Jacobson. “We present them to the best of the best throughout the state.”
The Prometheus event, on April 6, is especially significant as Iowa’s economy continues to recover, Jacobson says. “The growth of the tech sector impacts all of us positively,” she said, “because technology touches virtually every other sector of the economy.”
According to the Milken Institute, an independent economic think tank, knowledge-based industries, from information technology to biopharmaceuticals, have been able to create and retain high-paying jobs throughout the first decade of this millennium. The Milken Institute projects high-tech industries will lead the way growth for the entire economy.
This year’s winners will be announced at an evening ceremony at the Meadows Convention Center in Altoona. Hundreds of industry leaders from business, education, and government are expected to be in attendance.
The ceremony is co-sponsored by LWBJ Financial. Other sponsors are Applied Art and Technology, the Entrepreneurial Development Center, Iowa Telecom, Renew Rural Iowa and McKee, Voorhees & Sease, PLC.
“This year, we’ve added new award categories to represent the growing breadth of the sector,” said Paul Juffer, Senior Partner at LWBJ. “We received over 70 nominations—a record number. All of the nominees are helping to address challenges around the world. All of them are aiding the recovery of Iowa’s economy.”
