On Thursday, November 11, 2010, the Technology Association of Iowa will present the third annual Iowa Women of Innovation event, an awards presentation that elevates and celebrates today's extraordinary women. The event will be dedicated to recognizing women who are leaders in science, technology, engineering or math. Students at both the secondary (grades 7-12) and college levels will also be recognized.
The nomination period will be open from August 16 through September 27 for the following award categories:
- Research Innovation and Leadership

- Academic Innovation and Leadership (Secondary)
- Academic Innovation and Leadership (Post-Secondary)
- Government Agency/Non-Profit Innovation and Leadership
- Entrepreneurial Innovation and Leadership
- Small Business Innovation and Leadership
- Large Company Innovation and Leadership
- Collegian Innovation and Leadership (winner will receive $2,500 scholarship)
- Youth Innovation and Leadership (winner will receive $2,500 scholarship)
Category finalists will be honored and category winners will be announced at the Iowa Women of Innovation awards celebration.

Prior to the Iowa Women of Innvoation awards dinner - and inconjunction with Microsoft, students in grades 7-12 are invited to attend a special afternoon session. The Microsoft DigiGirlz program includes:
- Learning about various careers in STEM
- Connecting with successful women in the workforce
- Participating in hands-on computer and technology workshops
