On Thursday, November 11, 2010, the Technology Association of Iowa presented the third annual Iowa Women of Innovation event, an awards presentation that elevates and celebrates today's extraordinary women. The event is dedicated to recognizing women who are leaders in science, technology, engineering or math. Students at both the high school and college levels were also recognized.
Keynote presenter, Pat House, Co-Founder, Vice Chairman, and Senior Vice President of Strategy at C3, addressed the crowd of over 250 attendees. In her presentation, Ms. House inspired the audience by reinforcing they should always put forth their best effort and work to the best of their ability.
Janet Phipps Burkhead, Attorney at McKee, Voorhees & Sease and Brigadier General with the Iowa Army National Guard, emceed the evening.
TAI received over 60 nominations for these awards, the only ones of their kind in Iowa. Finalists and winners were selected by Lilia Abron, President of PEER Consultants, PC; Janet E. Phipps Burkhead, Attorney with McKee, Voorhees & Sease, PLC and a Brigadier General with the Iowa Army National Guard; Gary Scholten, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Principal Financial Group; Michael Sadler, Managing Director of Qwest – Iowa; and David Sengpiel, Senior Investment Manager of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
