Our members help Iowa businesses succeed through technology. Look here for comprehensive information on the products and services of TAI’s member companies, as well as the broad range of professional service firms and educational institutions that support them. Annual Membership Survey
As a member-driven organization, TAI conducts a comprehensive survey once a year to track company workforce data, assess our performance and to set the strategic direction for the next year. Survey results are summarized on our Web site and in our e-newsletter.
Industry Breakfasts
Current events and trends relative to the technology industry are showcased at these periodic member breakfasts. TAI has hosted visiting executives such as Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay. Other topics have included security at the FBI and an overview of Agile Executive Management.
HyperStream – The Tech Hub for Iowa Students
TAI’s signature program partners member companies with local area school districts to increase the awareness of tech-related careers and engage students and educators through public/private partnerships. Involves HyperStream clubs, job shadowing, presentations, internships, mentoring and more. TAI provides a wealth of resources and support, including the program’s three Web sites for students, educators and parents.
Iowa Superhighway Tours
Meet your area Legislators as TAI works with community partners each fall to host tech sector roundtables around the state (Ames, Cedar Falls/Waterloo, Clear Lake/ Mason City, Council Bluffs/Sioux City, Davenport, Des Moines, Dubuque, Iowa City/Cedar Falls). These meetings will facilitate discussion and create public awareness of tech industry trends in the area. They provide a forum for industry leaders to discuss with political leaders what drives the tech economy.
Legal and Finance Clinics
This monthly speaker and panel series provides tech company leaders with practical, in-depth information on best practices for well-planned growth. We’ll present legal and financial experts to advise various stages of business. Two to four Clinics will be held in Eastern Iowa each year, while the rest will be held in the metro Des Moines area.
IowaTechLinkz New in 2009
Championed by TAI, IowaTechLinkz is the first and only online vertical networking site dedicated to the Iowa technology industry. The site increases discussion and collaboration on issues and best practices with colleagues and experts from around the state. To build interactivity, users have access to tools such as communities, blogs, note boards, inbox, calendars and contacts. IowaTechLinkz, a free service to all of its users, can be found at www.IowaTechLinkz.com.
Eastern Iowa IT Leadership Forum NEW in 2009
Meeting every other month in diverse locations of Eastern Iowa, this Forum brings in speakers focused on technology leadership and provide a setting for networking and dialogue of best practices.
Public Policy Program
TAI’s Government Affairs Committee includes a lobbyist and interested individuals from TAI member companies. This group of engaged TAI members crafts our annual Legislative Agenda and aids TAI on grassroots policy efforts. It also plans special events with key State Legislators and sponsors.
Legislative eReport
Distributed weekly during the legislative session, the Legislative eReport provides you with the status of policy issues impacting Iowa’s technology industry and updates on other policy developments from Capitol Hill.
Legislative Reception
TAI’s popular annual gathering during session brings members of the Iowa State Legislature together with members of TAI. This event provides an opportunity for member companies to share information with policy makers and discuss timely issues important to them and the technology industry.
TAI Prometheus Awards
The Oscars of Iowa's high tech industry, this event brings leaders from technology, business, education and government together to recognize the year's technology achievements and to celebrate Iowa innovation. Award finalists and recipients – the best and brightest of Iowa’s diverse tech-based economy – are recognized at this Awards Gala.
Iowa Women of Innovation
TAI’s annual awards dinner each Fall recognizes and celebrates women in Iowa who are innovators, role models and leaders in technology, science and engineering. This event is also designed to encourage young women to pursue technology-related careers, by
engaging high school and college age women, as well as entrepreneurs and leaders in business and academia.
TechBrew Iowa: An Entreprenurial Mixer
Each month TAI hosts TechBrew Iowa. These informal gatherings bring entrepreneurs, technologists, business people and funders together to talk over a beer (aka “Lubricated Serendipity”).
The Heartland GreenUp Symposium and Expo NEW in 2010
The Heartland GreenUp takes the green IT conversation from the coasts to America’s heartland. The conference features prominent national and local experts from the public and private sectors and brings new ideas to industry leaders in Midwest while providing the opportunity to learn from the people behind them. A virtual component connects real-world and virtual events so that people from around the country and globe can join-in.
