What We Do
TAI promotes and grows technology in Iowa – both inside and outside of technology organizations.
Program Area 1: Association Management/Operations
Goal 1: Generate sufficient revenues to support the annual operation and management of the Technology Association of Iowa to achieve its purpose as designated by the Board of Directors.
Objective 1.1 Funding: Achieve and maintain annual revenues of $600,000 by 2011, $650,000 by 2012 and $700,000 by 2013.
Objective 1.2 Staffing: Recruit and retain sufficient professional administrative and operational staff to fully execute the strategic plan/mission of TAI by 2011.
Objective 1.3 Administration: Develop and retain an active, aggressive, and innovative Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Program Area 2: TAI Organization
Goal 2: TAI will maintain broad based support, endorsements and recognition as Iowa’s umbrella organization for technology.
Objective 2.1: Provide a functioning integrated umbrella organization representing all Iowa technology industry/advocacy groups.
Program Area 3: Workforce
Goal 3: Enhance access to talent and develop the future technology workforce. Grow the number of technology jobs and students to fill them.
Objective 3.1 Workforce Development: Efficiently scale wider for HyperStream to become a leading statewide career awareness program in 100 schools statewide by the 2013/14 school year.
Objective 3.2 Professional Development: Provide high technology workers with the same networking and educational opportunities currently available to executives by 2012.
Objective 3.3 Recruitment and Retention: Develop a comprehensive workforce recruitment/retention plan by 2012.
Program Area 4: Technology Community/Connectivity
Goal 4: Provide connectivity to business, capital, academic, and government resources.
Objective 4.1 Membership: Create an active membership base that supports Iowa’s high-tech industry including suppliers, purchasers, users, and influencers of technology.
Objective 4.2 Networking: Increase networking, business connections, and legislative engagement opportunities for technology executives through the development of Peer-to-Peer advisory boards, and the expansion of notable, self-sustaining programs and events.
Objective 4.3 Capital Access: TAI will become a strategic link between technology businesses, bankers, select angel funds and venture capitalists by 2011.
Objective 4.4 Women in Technology Network: TAI will create a support network of and for women in technology to aid recruitment and retention by 2011.
Program Area 5: Business Climate
Goal 5: Promote a business climate that will advance high-tech innovation and industry growth.
Objective 5.1 Environment: Create a positive growth environment for Iowa's technology industry and advocate for a vigorous Iowa ecosystem that supports innovation by 2011.
Objective 5.2 Iowa Innovation: Enable Iowa’s innovation economy through a next-level group focused on mentorship, finance and business evolution for small start-ups and young entrepreneurs by 2011.
Objective 5.3 Iowa reputation: Promote Iowa so it becomes recognized among state, regional and national sources as a technology state by 2012.
